Personal Statement
Graduate with a 2:1 class Building Surveying (RICS accredited) BSc (Hons) degree. The modules I have studied at University cover traditional building surveying and other areas of property and construction. Areas of particular interest to me are building pathology, inspection, conservation and restoration. For the last 2 years I have been working as a CAD Technician alongside my studies and gaining further surveying experience. I have recently achieved a first for the research dissertation project in which I investigated whether traditional methods or modern methods of construction offer a better quality housing in the UK. Mon, 06/07/2010 - 17:15 — harryThe dissertation has been uploaded and is available in the 'my work' section on the left. The page numbers do not work as 9 documents have had to be merged into one. I achieved an A14 for this research which is a first.
Firsts
Tue, 06/01/2010 - 16:01 — harryJust found out I've got firsts in my dissertation and professional practice module....im chuffed! Just waiting now to see if they are going to award me a first degree as I am borderline.
Dissertation Complete
Tue, 04/13/2010 - 08:02 — harry21,769 words later and the dissertation is complete. The final proof reading stage is being undertaken at the moment then it will be ready to hand in. As soon as it is done and dusted I will upload it to the website. Now I must prepare for my professional viva for the professional practice module. Here I must justify actions taken during the refurbishment of grade II* listed building, Lloyd House.

Final few weeks
Mon, 03/22/2010 - 09:57 — harryOnly a few more weeks to go now. The results are in and the analysis is taking place. Over the next two weeks I will be writing conclusions and tidying everything up to the dissertation. Once it is complete I will be putting my recommendations up on the website about traditional and modern methods of construction in housing and their effect on quality. I will also be taking my professional viva for the professional practice module so over the next few weeks I will be preparing for that too.

Website up and running

The websites acts as an online CV where my work can also be viewed. I have put up a few photos of past projects I have worked on aswell. I am currently designing the research methodology for my dissertation. Next week I will make the survey available online so anyone (who is a professional in construction or property) can complete and return it to me. I need as many results as possible!!!

This may take a while as I have 5000 words to write on refurbishment vs new build before monday 25th jan before my dissertation supervisor heads off to Hong Kong. Also need to design a questionaire for my research.
